The organization is led by Kofi Annan, our Founder and Executive Director, whose vision for Sankofa grew from a lifelong passion for cultural reconnection, community building, and travel. Kofi is a former chef and restauranter with decades of leadership experience in community development and international engagement. Kofi brings a unique perspective on how meaningful travel can transform lives and strengthen ties within the African diaspora.

Guiding our mission is a diverse board of directors made up of community leaders from Petersburg. Their combined expertise in education, business, and cultural preservation helps us create transformative experiences while honoring the legacy of the places we visit.
