About Sankofa Travels with Kofi

At Sankofa Travels with Kofi, we connect the African diaspora through travel, dialogue, and cultural exchange—and we have a great time doing it. Our trips aren’t stuffy history lessons or cookie-cutter tours. We mix culture with joy, learning with laughter.

From safaris in East Africa, to cruises, to walking through ancestral sites in West Africa, to dancing in jazz clubs, and swapping stories with new friends—we create experiences that feel alive. Every journey is a chance to explore, and make memories that stay with you long after the plane ride home.

Proceeds of every trip supports the Sankofa Scholars Program, giving Petersburg, VA students the chance to connect with their peers in Ghana and explore their heritage in a way that’s real and eye-opening.

This amazing program empowers high school students in the Petersburg, VA area to explore their heritage and expand their worldview through cultural education and exchange.
